Biwa is in Shiga prefecture, Japan, it has an area of 671 km2 and is
divided into 2 portions, the big north lake and the small south lake which
has an area of 58 km2. The
Bay of Akanoi is situated along the east shore of the smaller southern
lake just north of the Karasuma Peninsula. The
shoal inlet has an area of 2 km2.
