Karasuma Peninsula surrounding Akanoi Bay

Karasuma Peninsula already existed 150 years ago where ditch reeds grew.

It was a sandy beach that sank under water when the water level went up by 50 to 60 cm.

Old documents indicate there was a sandy beach with lots of reeds in the form of a fishing hook in 1846.   No Karasuma Peninsula was seen in 1892 or so.

The place turned into land completely in Taisho Era(1912 to 1925).

On aerial photos taken in 1947 you can see Karasuma Peninsula of the same shape as the present one except for the today's lakeside road.
