Ten delegates from Akanoi-Biwako Environmental Citizen's Initiative

 The International Conference on the Conservation and Management on lakes started in 1984 in Shiga Japan with the idea that we scientists, governmental agency, and citizens of world should work together to solve the environmental problems on lakes and watersheds. The conference has been held in every two years in the various countries.
The 8th conference was held in Copenhagen Denmark May 1999. It had 389 attendants from 59 countries, including 20 NGOs.
Ten delegates from Moriyama Shiga attended in the conference to introduce the activities at Akanoi-Bay Lake Biwa.
The 9th Conference was held again at Lake Biwa Shiga Japan on November 10 through 16 2001.
A Preliminary Session was held on November 10 and 11 at Moriyama Shiga Japan prior to the main conference.
